About Us

Cover’d House is a youth mentorship and enrichment program designed to support youth through engaging activities that build confidence, creativity, academic and social strength. We create a warm, structured environment where youth feel safe, encouraged, and excited to learn.
Vision: Cover’d House envisions generations of empowered youth who lead with identity and purpose—creating communities led by young leaders who understand themselves, care for others and are committed to uplifting the world around them.

What We Offer

Support in reading, writing, and math designed to strengthen confidence, improve performance, and build strong academic foundations for ages 6–16.

Focused preparation that helps students understand test formats, practice effectively, and improve scores with guided support and proven strategies.

Mentorship experiences that build confidence, decision-making skills, identity awareness, and leadership through real conversations and guided activities.

Youth learn money basics, goal setting, saving habits, and early business thinking to prepare for independence and future success.

Interactive sessions that help youth understand identity, community, and culture while building self-awareness, pride, and social responsibility.

Creative writing development, storytelling, and opportunities for youth to publish and share their voices through projects and showcases.

About the Founder

Meet Sherrie Lawyer, the founder of Cover’d House. Born and raised in Philadelphia, pennsylvania Sherrie has always been passionate about youth, education, and community. After earning a bachelor’s degree in educational facilitation, she spent four years living and teaching English in Southeast Asia—an experience that deepened her global perspective and reinforced her belief in the power of culturally responsive education. Upon returning to the U.S., Sherrie recognized gaps in the school system, especially in communities like the ones she grew up in.

Cover’d House was created to help fill those gaps by providing youth with mentorship, enrichment, and a safe space to build confidence, identity, and purpose.

Our Mission

Cover’d House empowers youth to develop cultural awareness, social consciousness, and the emotional intelligence to lead and uplift their future communities.
